Farmer Producer Organization

VIA signed a MoA with NABARD in the year 2015 to promote five Farmer ProducerCompanies (FPC) with a total financial outlay of Rs.45.30 lakhs. In the year 2019, additionallythree FPCs were sanctioned with a financial outlay of Rs. 34.32 lakhs. In the current year so farRs. 7.44 lakhs is sanctioned to form an FPC in Kerala. Due to successful successive efforts andperformance during the last few years, in January 2019 VIA promoted FPCs were awarded thefirst and second place in the State during the Tamil Nadu State Credit Seminar held in Chennai.

Collaboration of Research and Extension Activities of VIA with Sister Concerns of NIA Trust

Vanavarayar Institute of Agriculture has collaboration with Dr. Mahalingam Collegeof Engineering & Technology (Dr. MCET) and Nachimuthu Polytechnic College (NPTC)component colleges of the trust in the following aspects:

  • As such, the NIA Skill Foundation functioning at Dr. MCET delivers cost effective skills training to the small farmers of Pollachi region in collaboration with VIA. Based on the feedback received from the farmers, the students of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Dr. MCET and NPTC are entrusted with the work of developing prototype of farm machineries required for the small farmers of the region.

  • VIA gets assistance from the NPTC to develop the irrigation park.

  • The automobile engineering students of SANDWICH programme, conducted in collaboration with TVS Motor Company, Hosur, studying at NPTC regularly visit VIA to have hands-on training in vegetable production. This enables them to de-stress the pressuresof study and at the same time understand the importance of agricultural production and theefforts of the farmers in raising the crops.
